When I started this writing challenge, I was terrified I had nothing valuable to say.

I’ve been thinking about doing something creative online for a while now. Maybe you’ve felt that tug too, wondering if you should finally start that blog, podcast, or YouTube channel. You see others do it, think, ‘I wanna try that,’ but life gets in the way, and before you know it, months have passed by.

Should I make YouTube videos? Oh yeah, I’ve watched years’ worth of content. But the language learning community on YouTube is a wild ride. Snake oil salesmen claim they speak hundreds of languages, other grifters “stunning locals” with fluent Mandarin Chinese they say they learned in 30 days. After over a decade of studying Japanese and working as an English instructor in Japan for almost six years, I figured I had something to say. And you probably do too. Whether you’re just starting or have years of knowledge tucked away, that experience is valuable. So why aren’t we sharing it?

Maybe you’re like me — watching countless tutorials, thinking, ‘I could do this,’ but something holds you back. What is it for you? Time? Confidence? Perfectionism?
